Exploits of People or Code
This network does not allow users to trick others into using keystrokes, scripts or through any other methods to infect, crash, or manipulate through malicious mischief any other user on the network. This network does not allow the use, sharing or promoting of known or unknown exploits, bugs, viruses, worms, or trojans in public channels, private channels, or personal messages. Users who demonstrate such actions will be banned without warning and will not be allowed back on the network regardless of original intentions.
Impersonation:
This network prohibits the impersonation of any network administrator and/or the use of any registered nickname not your own, including but not limited to accessing another user's account by guessing or stealing a password. Such action will result in ban from the network.
Personal Bots: Rules and Requirements
- All bots must have prior clearance BEFORE running on the network. Any bot found running on the network without permission will be banned as will the bot owner. To request permission to have a bot on the network please visit #link#.
- Bots are not allowed to harass, spam, or otherwise annoy users on the network.
- Bots may not have any type of login for users other than the owner's login.
- Bots may not give access to or direct a user to illegal materials including but not limited to downloading of pirated software, music, or videos.
- Bots are not allowed to impersonate services or attempt to duplicate them.
Nickname Use and Verification
Network users are required to use valid information for registering. Regular email checks will be made and those nicknames with invalid emails will be suspended and may be deleted requiring the user to reregister with a valid email. Any information gathered through registration is considered confidential and is not transferred or sold. Release of information will be done only in cooperation with authorities in cases of suspected illegal activity. Personal information submitted, including but not limited to nickname, real name, location, and email, that can be viewed by the public or administration must be valid and non-abusive. Some users must register with special conditions to ensure individual account access when situations occur that require the banning of abusive users accessing the network. Proxies
Use of proxies to mask connection source, evade connection restrictions or for questionable/illegal activity is not allowed. By connecting to this network, users have implicitly agreed to being scanned for proxies. CGI:IRC and similar applets are restricted to those offered at #link#.
Note: Proxies are generally illegal connections and connecting through them is not secure. Your connection can be logged resulting in the theft of your password and/or other information.
Flooding/SPAM/Trolling/Harassment
Flooding, SPAM, trolling, and harassment is not allowed on this network.
Flooding is excessive amounts of pasted material. This will result in an automatic kick by the network.
SPAM is repeated unsolicited or annoying messages of any kind.
Trolling is when a user goes into a room(s) to harass or intentionally create problems.
Harassment is repeated or persistent irritation or torment even after being asked to cease.
Any of the above may result in access to the network being restricted for an amount of time determined by the person working on the individual case. Report abusers to #HelpDesk or to an IRCop on duty.
Applet Abuse/Ban Evasion
Applets offered are to be used solely for those requiring browser access or those who are having trouble with an irc client. Anyone misusing the applets to evade channel or network bans either temporary or permanent will be banned from the network permanently.
Note: It is acceptable to use the applets to contact the council via irc regarding a ban. Access must be restricted to #HelpDesk. Any contact with others through channels or PM during this time will be considered evasion of ban and will result in a permanent ban from the network.
Acceptable Use Policy
By accessing this network the user agrees to abide by the policies stated above. Failure to comply with the policies as stated may result in consequences ranging from temporary removal of access to a permanent ban. Severity of consequence will be determined by the IRCop governing the situation and will be on a case-by-case basis. This network complies with upstream regulations and maintains records of logs. These logs are confidential but will be turned over upon request in cooperation with appropriate authorities for suspicious or illegal activities.
